Cheesesteak Lovers &
Fans of the Philadelphia Sound

You're listening to TSOP ( "The Sounds of Philadelphia" ), which was recorded by MFSB, an acronym for "Mother, Father, Sister, Brother," a group of studio musicians based at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios and by The Three Degrees, a Philadelphia trio, which also had an even bigger hit, "When Will I See You Again," which first charted 6 months after TSOP and went Platinum.

The Gold tune, TSOP, first hit The Top 40 on March 16, 1974 where it rose to #1 for 2 weeks and remained on the Top 40 for 14 weeks altogether.

The song became the theme for the television show, "Soul Train,"  Additionally, it was the #1 Adult Contemporary Hit for 2 weeks, and the #1 R&B hit for one week.

In all, TSOP, was a monster hit among other great
Philly-based musical giants starting back with Doo-Wop.
